When you sell a house in New York State (and probably elsewhere), the contract may state the sellers are to leave it “broom clean,” i.e., no dirt or trash. It’s nice if the sellers go beyond that to wipe down surfaces, mop floors, clean appliances, etc., but they really don’t have to. As far as regular cleaning, there have been times in my life I’ve let it slide because something else demanded my attention at the moment. What can you do.
