I’m a white American woman who has been absolutely dumbfounded at the vitriol directed at Meghan Markle in the British press. The newspapers don’t even attempt to hide their racist misogyny and contempt. So I was totally rooting for her and Harry when they bolted from The Firm, but now it’s time for them to stop looking backward, start looking forward, and rebuild their lives in America or wherever they ultimately land, not as royal refugees, but on their own merits.
